Analysis Of The Cause Of Residual Glue in PE Protective Film
Dec 20, 2021
The most common protective film in our daily life is nothing more than the protective film for food preservation and related electronic products. Today, we will focus on PE protective film, which is an indispensable part of industrial products.
In fact, PE protective film has a wide range of uses, such as computer cases, solar panels, glass panels in the hardware industry, backlight panels, cold light films, and mobile phone screens in the optoelectronic industry, and instruments and acrylic in the plastic industry. Boards, etc., as well as the printing industry, wire and cable industry, electronics industry and mobile phone digital industry and so on.
The production material of PE protective film is polyethylene, but according to the different density, it can also be subdivided into high-density polyethylene protective film, medium-density polyethylene film and low-density polyethylene film. It is the most common organic arrangement structure. Chemical polymer compounds are also the most widely used polymer materials today.
This kind of protective film can protect some products from contamination and abrasion during production or transportation, and can protect the original smooth surface.
What are the reasons for the residual glue of the PE protective film? Why is the PE protective film not sticking firmly?
1. Human factors
Some people think that PE protective film looks like a layer of plastic film. Any kind of protective film can meet their own product needs, or even just think it can be attached. It is a very irresponsible statement. Regarding PE protection The film still has a lot of professional knowledge, such as: keep the product clean, no grease and no chemical residue on the surface of the product before applying the film, otherwise it will easily cause the residue to react with the glue, resulting in degumming, insufficient viscosity, etc. ......
2. The internal factors of glue
It is divided into the following three points
①The adhesive base is damaged, there are more rubber residues on the surface of the protected product, and the substrate is visible on the surface of the PE protective film;
②Cohesive destruction, pressure-sensitive adhesive is on the surface of the protected product and the substrate, and the adhesive surface of the protective film loses its luster;
③ Migration residue, there is a small amount of pressure-sensitive adhesive residue on the surface of the protected product, and the gloss of the PE protective film coating surface remains good.
3. Aging mechanism
The main chain of acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive is a saturated chain, and it is difficult for the main chain to be broken by general heat energy. The main aging mechanism is ultraviolet light aging; the substrate aging is also mainly ultraviolet light aging. For example, the tensile strength of the PE film substrate after aging for 1 week in an environment of 80°C and 30W ultraviolet light from the uv lamp supplier, the results show that the normal operating temperature has little effect on its aging performance, while the ultraviolet light The impact is greater.
4. Change in peel strength
No matter how high the surface gloss is, the surface of the object is scattered with many tiny holes that are difficult to see with the naked eye. Although the pressure-sensitive adhesive is cross-linked, it still has a certain degree of deformation and fluidity, especially the part of the polymer that has not participated in the cross-linking. In addition, when attaching the PE protective film, despite the high pressure, the contact area between the pressure-sensitive adhesive and the surface of the material is not very large. With the extension of time, the contact area gradually increases, and the effect between the PE protective film and the protected surface Strength has also gradually improved. Both effects will increase the peel strength with time.
