Glass Protection Film

Step 1 – Prepare work environment. Move any furniture, blinds, etc that may hinder access to the glass. Lay down drop cloths to maintain a neat work area.

Step 2 – Prepare slip solution in a pressurized spray bottle. Slip solution is typically a mixture of water and baby shampoo. The slip solution allows the installer to position the film on the glass.

Step 3 – Clean interior face of glass. Wet the glass with the slip solution and use an approved scraper and blade system to clean dirt and debris from glass.

Step 4 – Squeegee glass. Wet the glass again with the slip solution. Use your glass squeegee to wipe glass clean. Take a non-abrasive paper towel and run along the gaskets to remove any debris that may be trapped.

Step 5 – Apply film. Cut film to appropriate size, allowing for a few extra inches on the width and height. Generously wet the glass with slip solution. Align the factory edge of the film to one of the edges of the gasket and press to the glass. Note that if the film slips too easily against the glass that you have added too much shampoo to the spray bottle.

Step 6 – Squeegee film. Use your glass film squeegee to remove any water trapped between the glass and the film. You must use firm pressure so that no water remains trapped. Please note that it is impossible to remove all the water and that you will notice tiny water bubbles left behind. The sun will dry out this condition.

Step 7 – Trim film to fit. Take an approved knife and blade system (Olfa or NT Cutter) and trim the film against the gasket using a “5-way” wallpaper tool as a guide to ensure a straight cut.

Step 8 – Dry edges. Take a non-abrasive paper towel and run along the edges of the film to remove any excess water.

Step 9 – Clean film. Lightly spray the film with slip solution and wipe away with glass squeegee. This will improve the aesthetic appearance of the film.

Step 10 – Flatten edges. Wrap a non-abrasive paper towel around the “5-way” wallpaper tool and flatten the edges of the film by applying pressure with the “5-way” tool.
